Bang Bao Beach

The fishing village of Bang Bao in Koh Chang is the starting point for visiting the nearby southern islands of Koh Wai, Koh Mak, Koh Kood and Koh Rang National Reserve. The pier extends half a kilometer into the sea.
Bang Bao Bay is surrounded on both sides by hills covered with lush tropical greenery. The hilly terrain provides natural protection from the winds. In the distant past, a quiet backwater allowed fishermen to hide from storms and wait out storms and bad weather in safety. Gradually people moved here for permanent residence. The water area is usually calm; waves occur only occasionally during the monsoon period, which lasts from May to October.
